Grow A Colony is free to play on Roblox. You can hatch Workers, Majors, and Drones, dig a nest, spend Skill Tree points from Update 5.2, and fight bugs or rival colonies without spending Robux. Upgrade All Stats is the newest store item (created 23 August 2026). That is after Update 5.3 fairness notes landed on the description, so treat it as a late convenience pass, not a required unlock for new queens.
2X Points — cheapest skill-tree helper
Update 5.2 added the skill tree. Points are the long-term currency that makes Workers forage better and Majors hit harder. 2X Points is the cheapest pass and the one that most clearly multiplies a system the free game already gives you. If you already follow the Skill Tree route and the Skills tier list, doubling points shortens the grind; it does not replace choosing the right nodes.
Skip this pass on day one. Claim Daily Rewards, stabilize Food and Water, then decide. New-player fairness in 5.3 already softens early progression — stacking a points pass on a starving nest wastes Robux.
2X Food — economy multiplier
Food is the real bottleneck: Majors and Drones eat, eggs cost calories, and wars burn replacements. 2X Food claims a permanent double on food. That helps Scavenge loops described in How to Get Food and Worker-first builds on the Ant Roles tier list.
It does not replace troop orders. If Follow / Scavenge / Attack are wrong, extra food still leaks. Read Troop Orders before you buy. Players who only want a smoother mid-game often pick 2X Food after 2X Points, not before a safe nest exists — see Nest Layout.
Queen Bee (Perm) vs Queen Bee raids
The store pass Queen Bee (Perm) “grants the bee” inside the experience. That is separate from the PvE Queen Bee Raid loop where colonies fight a hive for ants and food. Do not confuse a cosmetic or unlockable bee unit with beating the raid boss for free loot.
If you enjoy bee-themed combat, this pass is optional flavor. Free players still raid, still hatch eggs, and still use Creatures knowledge for spiders, wasps, mantises, and termites tagged on the Roblox page. Spend here only after food and a vault exist.
Hornet (perm)
Hornet (perm) is the highest-priced creature unlock besides the all-stats pass. Store text says it grants the hornet in Grow A Colony. Treat it like Queen Bee Perm: a paid unit/unlock, not a substitute for Beat Bugs and Bosses or War and PvP. A hornet does not dig your choke or hatch Workers.
Priority if you buy any creature pass: Hornet after Queen Bee only if you already like the bee and still have spare Robux. Most colonies should fund Eggs and Ants with gameplay first.
Upgrade All Stats — late convenience, not a tutorial skip
Upgrade All Stats (399 Robux, 23 Aug 2026) claims fully maxed stats. That can flatten the skill-tree journey the wiki teaches in How to Play and Getting Started. We list it honestly because it is in the live catalog, but it is the worst first purchase: you skip learning which stats matter, and 5.3 already tries to make new queens competitive without a wallet.
If you still buy it, keep practicing nest geometry and troop modes. Max stats on an open surface nest still lose wars on a 12-player server.
Who should spend nothing
Free play is the intended loop. Promo codes are currently empty. Daily rewards, Scavenge, bug kills, and colony fights all grant ants and food. Gamepasses are optional multipliers and unlocks. Beginners should finish the Colony Checklist for several sessions before opening the Store.
How to buy safely
- Launch from the official experience URL, not a search ad.
- Open the in-game Shop / Store or the Roblox Store tab on the same place.
- Confirm the pass name matches this table (especially Queen Bee (Perm) vs raid UI).
